Antrims previous appearance in an All Ireland hurling final was 1943, while Tipperarys previous appearance was in 1988. Both teams were unsuccessful in their previous year. 1982 All Ireland Football Final
This most memorable All Ireland took place on September 19th in front of 62, 309 fans. Kerry were going for five in a row. They were stopped in their tracks with minutes to go when Seamus Darby, Offaly sub scored a winning goal for Offaly. The final scoreline was Offaly 1-15; Kerry 0-17.
1939 All Ireland Hurling Final
On September 3rd 1939, the All Ireland hurling final was contested by Cork and Kilkenny. Towards the end of the game, torrential rain ferocious thunder and terrifying bolts of lightning broke over Croke Park. The game became known as the Thunder and Lightning Final. Another storm was unleashed that day-the outbreak of World War Two.
1931 All Ireland Hurling Final
It wasn't until the third meeting of Cork and Kilkenny that there was a winner. The third All Ireland final took place on November 1st 1931 in Croke Park in front of 26, 460 spectators. Cork were the victors, beating Kilkenny 5-8 to 3-4.
